Emotion coaching is a way of responding to emotions that can help children understand, regulate, and work through their emotions so they can manage their behaviour and respond in socially appropriate ways.<\/p>\n

Through interactive sessions, participants in Tuning into Kids\u00ae learn practical skills and strategies for building stronger relationships with their children. We teach parents and carers to notice children\u2019s emotions, especially before emotions have become overwhelming for the child. We encourage parents and carers to accept, validate and empathise with their child\u2019s emotions, help reflect upon or name the emotions being experienced and, if necessary, help their child work through the emotions and problem-solve.<\/p>\n

By improving emotional literacy and communication, parents and carers can help children develop a better understanding of themselves and others, leading to improved mental health and wellbeing.<\/p>\n
